First NHC Natural Health ebook moves into production

The first in our series of electronic books on natural health care is in the works; slated for release end of March, 2010.

NaturalHealthcare.ca (NHC) is pleased to announce a series of electronic books on natural health care. The ebooks are being distributed online - free of charge for personal use and fee for commercial usage (which will be donated to charity). The content is a combination of information provided by practitioners and researchers from the NHC team.

Why this initiative?

As a trusted resource, NHC seeks to provide Canadians with the natural health information they need, when they need it. Canada's population is increasingly seeking out preventive health strategies and natural health practitioners: over 2.4 million unique visitors came to NHC last year (2009), about 70% of that total were Canadian. The Deloitte 2009 Canadian health care consumer survey report found that 25% of Canadians had used alternative or natural therapies to treat a health problem in the past year (in 2003, that number was 20% as per Stats Can), and one in seven Canadian consumers stated a preference for physicians who integrate holistic approaches into their practice. A 2009 Canadian Public Health Association study found that 40% of adult Canadians reported having used vitamin or mineral supplements in the previous month.

Editorial Focus

As with the website, the first NaturalHealthcare.ca ebook is focused on the five pillars of natural health: nutrition (including supplementation), fitness, bodywork (manipulation of the physical body), energywork, and the mind-body connection. Our focus is on natural health - whether it is used as part of an Alternative, Complementary, or Integrative health strategy. In-house, our philosophy is Complementary and Integrative - Canadians tend to see our physicians for an annual check up and when they are sick - natural health care is what we do in between those visits to maintain and improve our health.
